Staff & Impact Team

  • Amy Mitcham

    director of children's ministry

Amy Mitcham and her family joined Christ Church in 2007 and soon found herself working here in our office and soon after our children’s ministry program. Previous work experience includes preschool teaching, grant writing and working 11 years at a nonprofit working with victims of abuse. She and her husband Chris have two children: Becca and John. She has a passion for children, family ministry and teaching, and feels blessed to be called to serve God here at Christ Church. Her favorite verse is “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.” John 15:5,8 NKJV

  • lynette read

    assistant director of children's ministry

Lynette has been a member of Christ Church for about 10 years. She raised 3 boys. Has 4 grandchildren. Before joining the staff Lynette has been volunteering in Children's Ministry for the past 9 years. Lynette has also served on the Church Council, Board of Trustees, Beyond Our Walls Campaign as well as the Strategic Planning Commiittee.

" I believe it takes a village to raise a child" I also know how hard it can be raising children and it is so much easier with support.

    Deuteronomy 6:5-7

Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commmandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

  • Charlie Cole

    Nursery Coordinator

Charlie Cole has been working in the Children’s Ministry as Nursery Coordinator since July 2017. Prior to becoming a staff member at Christ Church United Methodist, Charlie has a compassionate heart for children and has enjoyed the personal rewards of working and teaching young children as they grow and develop in a childcare, preschool or church environment for the past 19 years.  Along with her husband, she has 2 adult children, a beautiful daughter-in-law and a 2 year old granddaughter who is her greatest and most treasured gift from God, who lovingly calls her “Nana”.

Charlie’s compassion for a safe and nurturing atmosphere for children and their spiritual growth continues. When asked what she loved about working at Christ Church, her response, “I KNOW that I am here not by chance, but by God’s choosing. HE has allowed me to be here, growing in HIS grace at this particular time, to fulfill HIS special purpose. Working in the Nursery where children first hear about the love of Jesus and showing them they are wonderfully made and as they transition out of the Nursery, preparing them to become all they were created to be, is what I love about working at Christ Church. I am grateful and blessed to be a part of the Children’s Ministry family.”

    favorite bible verse Romans 12:9-21

9 Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. 10 Love each other with genuine affection,[a] and take delight in honoring each other. 11 Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically.[b] 12 Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying. 13 When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality. 14 Bless those who persecute you. Don’t curse them; pray that God will bless them. 15 Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep. 16 Live in harmony with each other. Don’t be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don’t think you know it all! 17 Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. 18 Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone. 19 Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, “I will take revenge; I will pay them back,”says the Lord. 20 Instead, “If your enemies are hungry, feed them. If they are thirsty, give them something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals of shame on their heads.”21 Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good.

  • Stacey Hannon - volunteer - 1st & 2nd grade

We have been going to the church for about 1 year. Joined officially in April 2017.

I love to volunteer to connect and be in community with others. I believe God's love is expressed in being in relationship with one another. Volunteering is one way to be of service to others.

One Bible verse that has great meaning to me: 1John 4:12

No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God remains in us, and His love is perfected in us.

I am a single mom of Mia Simone (5th grader at Mitchell Intermediate.) Mia turned to me last year and requested a church with a youth group she can feel she belongs. She has found that with Lynette, Steve and Maggie. Club 56.

I am currently trying many opportunities to volunteer and meet the people of Christ Church: Singing with the Women's group, greeting, teaching Sunday school, Family promise, looking forward to pumpkin patch, Sunday night women's group and mission opportunities.
